Welcome

Welcome to Freshfield Primary School!

In touring this site you will have opportunity to flavour the broad range of challenges and activities we engage in with our children. By providing opportunities to explore, work hard and make choices, our children experience success, academically, in music, in drama and in sport and in their personal development.

As Head teacher, I am proud that Her Majesty’s Inspectors, in their May 2007 Report, recognised and praised the ways in which the children actively contribute to the school’s development. In their subsequent visit in October 2009 they recognised how our school has continued to progress and again awarded the school an overall ‘outstanding’ grade.

Since that time our endeavours have led to awards for our Early Years, whole school singing, ICT and International studies. These can be viewed on this site and are worth a look as they illustrate the diverse nature of our learning journeys with our children.

In September 2009 Freshfield Children’s Centre opened to serve the needs of young families and the community of the Formby area. We have been enthused by the response of families and groups who make use of the facilities on offer and the Centre continues to expand daily as it addresses the needs of its users. You will see a link to the Centre if you wish to find out more.

In January 2010 our school became a National Support School and as such we are expanding our influence and excellent practices to work with other schools and facilitators. As such in 2010-11 we are looking forward to new horizons and exciting challenges.

During 2009-10 we were projected into the forefront of energy saving by becoming a test, ‘Zero Carbon’ school for the LEA which brought investment in our school buildings to enhance their eco-friendliness and reduce our carbon footprint.

In 2010-11 this on-going monitoring project in association with Liverpool John Moores University and the LEA provides us with exciting opportunities to monitor and evaluate our practices.

And so our progress continues and as always, at its heart is the nurturing of each child to become a healthy, happy and responsible individual.

I hope you enjoy your tour of our site. If you wish to visit us I will be very pleased to meet with you and show you around our lovely school.
